Azərbaycan dilində ətraflı izah

Hisslər

happy, sad, angry, worried, nervous, excited, surprised, tired, bored, scared, proud, upset, lonely

Hisslər çox vaxt be, feel, look feilləri ilə işlənir:

  • I feel nervous before exams.
  • You look tired.

Sifət + ön söz

Hər sifətin özünəməxsus ön sözü var və Azərbaycan dilindəki hal şəkilçiləri ilə üst-üstə düşmür:

İngiliscəAzərbaycanca
afraid / scared of...dan qorxmaq
angry with (adam) / about (şey)...a əsəbiləşmək
worried about...dan narahat olmaq
excited about...a görə həyəcanlı
proud of...la fəxr etmək
interested in...la maraqlanmaq
good / bad at...da yaxşı / pis

-ed və -ing sifətləri

Bu, Azərbaycan dilində danışanlar üçün çox vacib fərqdir:

  • -ed → insanın hiss etdiyi: I'm bored. – Mən darıxıram.
  • -ing → hissə səbəb olan şey/adam: The film is boring. – Film darıxdırıcıdır.

✗ I am boring desəniz, bu «mən darıxdırıcı adamam» deməkdir! Digər cütlər: interested / interesting, tired / tiring, excited / exciting, surprised / surprising, confused / confusing.

Xarakter

Müsbət: friendly (mehriban), kind (xeyirxah), generous (səxavətli), honest (dürüst), hard-working (çalışqan), patient (səbirli), confident (özünəinamlı), funny (zarafatcıl) Mənfi: lazy (tənbəl), rude (kobud), selfish (eqoist), mean (xəsis; pis niyyətli), impatient (səbirsiz), bossy (əmr verməyi sevən)

Bir çox sifət un-/im- ilə əksinə çevrilir: friendly → unfriendly, patient → impatient, honest → dishonest.

Xarakter yoxsa hiss?

She is a nervous person. (xarakter) – She is nervous today. (indiki hiss). Hiss üçün today, now kimi sözlər kömək edir.
