- Can describe a daily routine using phrasal verbs.
Explanation
What are phrasal verbs?
A phrasal verb is a verb + a small word (up, on, off, out, for, after). The meaning is often new: look for = search, look after = take care of.
Daily routine: wake up, get up, put on, take off, go out, come back. At home: turn on/off, turn up/down, pick up, throw away. People: look for, look after, find out, call back.
Separable verbs (turn on, put on, pick up): a noun can go before or after the particle, Turn on the TV / Turn the TV on. A pronoun must go in the middle: Turn it on (not turn on it).
Inseparable verbs (look for, look after): the object always goes after, I'm looking for it.
Azərbaycan dilində ətraflı izah
Phrasal verb nədir?
Phrasal verb feil + kiçik söz (up, down, on, off, out, for, after) birləşməsidir və çox vaxt yeni məna verir:
- look = baxmaq, amma look for = axtarmaq, look after = qayğısına qalmaq.
Azərbaycan dilində buna bənzər birləşmələr var: yola salmaq, başa düşmək, ortaya çıxmaq. Onları sözbəsöz tərcümə etmək olmur, ingilis phrasal verb-lərini də bütöv bir söz kimi öyrənmək lazımdır.

Obyektin yeri
Bəzi phrasal verb-lər ayrıla bilir (turn on, put on, pick up, throw away). İsim iki yerdə dura bilər:
- Turn on the light. / Turn the light on.
Amma əvəzlik (it, them, him) olduqda, o, mütləq ortada durur:
- ✓ Turn it on. ✗ Turn on it.
look for, look after kimi ayrılmayan feillərdə isə obyekt həmişə sonda olur: I'm looking for my keys / looking for them.
İpucu
Yeni phrasal verb-i həmişə bir nümunə cümlə ilə yazın, məsələn: I put on my coat and went out.
