Explanation

When to use Present Simple

We use the Present Simple for things we do regularly, for habits, and for general truths.

I get up at seven o'clock.
We drink tea every morning.
The sun rises in the east.

Form

Subject + verb + other words.

Subject	Verb	Example
I / you / we / they	work	They work here.
he / she / it	works	She works at home.

Spelling of -s / -es

Most verbs: add -s (read → reads).
Verbs ending in **-s, -sh, -ch, -x, -o **: add -es (watch → watches, go → goes).
Consonant + **y **: change y to -ies (study → studies).
have → has with he, she, it.

Time words: every day, usually, always, often, sometimes, never.

Present Simple (indiki sadə zaman) aşağıdakı hallarda istifadə olunur:

vərdişlər: We drink tea every morning. (Biz hər səhər çay içirik.)
ümumi həqiqətlər: The sun rises in the east. (Günəş şərqdən doğur.)

Üçüncü şəxs tək (-s / -es qaydası)

He, she, it əvəzlikləri ilə işlənən feillərə -s və ya -es əlavə olunur:

Əksər feillərə sadəcə -s: read → reads, play → plays, like → likes.
Sonu -s, -sh, -ch, -x, -o ilə bitən feillərə -es: watch → watches, go → goes, do → does, finish → finishes.
Sait + y ilə bitən feillərə -s: play → plays, buy → buys.
Samit + y ilə bitən feillərdə y düşür, -ies gəlir**: study → studies, fly → flies.
have feili he, she, it ilə has olur: He has a car.

Azərbaycan dili ilə müqayisə

Azərbaycan dilində feil şəxsə görə dəyişir: mən işləyirəm, sən işləyirsən, o işləyir. İngilis dilində isə feil yalnız he, she, it ilə dəyişir, digər əvəzliklərlə eyni qalır. Buna görə də -s şəkilçisini unutmaq ən çox rast gəlinən səhvlərdən biridir.
