  • Can say and understand numbers from 1 to 100 and simple prices.
  • Can tell the time using 'o'clock', 'half past', 'quarter past' and 'quarter to'.

Explanation

Numbers 1-20

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty.

Tens and 100

thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, a hundred. Use a hyphen: twenty-one, thirty-five.

Telling the time

  • 3:00 = three o'clock
  • 3:15 = quarter past three
  • 3:30 = half past three
  • 3:45 = quarter to four
  • 3:10 = ten past three
  • 3:50 = ten to four

Use o'clock only for full hours. Say It is three o'clock.

Parts of the day

in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, at night.

Days and months

Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Months: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December. Always use a capital letter.

Dates

Use ordinal numbers: 1st (first), 2nd (second), 3rd (third), 4th (fourth), 5th (fifth), 21st (twenty-first). My birthday is on 5th May. The meeting is on the 3rd of June.

Prices

£5 = five pounds, $10 = ten dollars, €20 = twenty euros.
