  • Ask for someone: Could I speak to Mr Aliyev, please? Answer: Speaking. / Just a moment. / I'll put you through.
  • When someone is not there: I'm afraid she's not available. Can I take a message? The caller says: Could I leave a message?

Azərbaycan dilində ətraflı izah

Telefonda özünü təqdim etmək

İngilis dilində telefonda özünüzü This is... ilə təqdim edirsiniz, I am... ilə yox:

  • ✓ Hello, this is Aysel from Bright Travel.
  • ✗ Hello, I am Aysel. (səhv deyil, amma telefonda təbii səslənmir)

Soruşmaq: Who's calling, please? (✗ Who are you?) – «Who are you?» kobud səslənir.

Kimisə istəmək

  • Could I speak to Mr Əliyev, please?
  • Is Nərmin there, please? (qeyri-rəsmi)
  • Cavab: Speaking. – Mənəm, eşidirəm. / *** Just a moment, please.*** / *** Hold on, I'll put you through.***

Adam yoxdursa

  • I'm sorry, she's not available at the moment. / He's in a meeting.
  • Can I take a message? – Mesaj qoymaq istəyirsiniz?
  • Could I leave a message? – Mesaj qoya bilərəm?
  • Could you ask him to call me back?

take a message – zəng qəbul edən deyir; leave a message – zəng edən deyir. Azərbaycanlılar bunları tez-tez qarışdırır.

Problem olanda

  • Sorry, could you repeat that, please?
  • Could you speak a bit more slowly, please?
  • Sorry, the line is bad. / You're breaking up. – Səs kəsilir.
  • Could you spell that, please? – Hərf-hərf deyə bilərsiniz?

Nömrələr

Telefon nömrələri rəqəm-rəqəm deyilir: 050 123 45 67 → oh-five-oh, one-two-three, four-five, six-seven. 0 çox vaxt oh kimi oxunur. Eyni iki rəqəm üçün Britaniyada double deyilir: 44 → double four.

Zəngi bitirmək

  • Thanks for calling. / *** Thanks for your help.***
  • Speak to you soon. / *** Bye for now.***

Nəzakət

Telefonda üz ifadəsi görünmür, ona görə please, could, would sözləri daha vacibdir. Give me Murad! əvəzinə Could I speak to Murad, please? deyin.
