Explanation

will

Spontaneous decisions (I'll have the soup), predictions based on opinion (I think he'll win), offers and promises (I'll help you).

be going to

Plans and intentions decided before now (I'm going to learn Italian), predictions based on present evidence (Watch out! You're going to fall!).

Present Continuous

Fixed arrangements with a time, place or other people (We're having dinner with my parents on Sunday).

Present Simple

Timetables (The bus leaves at 8).

Do not use will for every future idea. Think: is it a new decision, a plan, or an arrangement?

1. will

  • Anlıq qərar (danışarkən verilən): The phone's ringing. I'll get it.
  • Fikrə əsaslanan proqnoz: I think it will be a great film. (çox vaxt I think, probably, I'm sure ilə)
  • Təklif, söz vermə: I'll help you with your bags. I won't tell anyone.

2. be going to

  • Əvvəlcədən verilmiş qərar, niyyət: I'm going to study medicine.
  • İndiki sübuta əsaslanan proqnoz: Look at those clouds. It's going to rain.

3. Present Continuous

  • Dəqiq razılaşdırılmış plan (vaxt, yer, başqa insanlar məlumdur): I'm meeting Aysel at six tomorrow. We're flying to Tbilisi on Friday.

Common mistakes

  • I will meet my doctor tomorrow at 9.
