Passive voice: present and past

Explanation
Form
- Present: am/is/are + past participle, Coffee is grown in Brazil.
- Past: was/were + past participle, The museum was opened in 2012.
Use
We use the passive when the person who does the action is unknown, unimportant or obvious, and in formal or news writing.
Use by only when the agent is important: The song was written by a teenager.
Only verbs with an object can be passive. We say It happened (not was happened).

Məchul növ nədir?
Fəal (active) cümlədə diqqət hərəkəti edənin üzərindədir: Workers built this bridge in 1960. Məchul (passive) cümlədə isə diqqət hərəkətin obyektinə keçir: This bridge was built in 1960.
Azərbaycan dili ilə müqayisə
Azərbaycan dilində məchul növ -ıl/-il/-ul/-ül/-n şəkilçiləri ilə düzəlir: tikildi, yazılır, satılır. İngilis dilində isə be + V3 (past participle) lazımdır. Tipik səhv: be felini unutmaq, The book written by Nizami (səhv) → The book was written by Nizami.

Hərəkəti edəni bildirmək vacibdirsə, by işlənir: Guernica was painted by Picasso. Lakin əksər məchul cümlələrdə by olmur. My bike was stolen by someone demək lazımsızdır.
Hansı fellər?
Yalnız obyekt qəbul edən (təsirli) fellər məchul növdə ola bilər. happen, arrive, die kimi fellər məchul olmur: The accident happened (not was happened). Bu, Azərbaycan dilindən gələn tez-tez rast gəlinən səhvdir.

Məchul növdə be feli (was) mütləqdir.

was-dan sonra V3 gəlir: write – wrote – written.

Hərəkəti edən by ilə verilir, from ilə yox. Azərbaycan dilindəki 'tərəfindən' = by.
