Bağlayıcılar
- and, və: I went to the market and bought fruit.
- but, amma: I'd love to come, but I have an exam.
- so, ona görə də (nəticə): It was raining, so we stayed at home.
- because, çünki (səbəb): I can't come because I'm ill.
Azərbaycan dilində "çünki" və "ona görə də" bəzən qarışdırılır. because səbəbdən əvvəl, so nəticədən əvvəl gəlir.
Qeyri-rəsmi üslub
- Qısaltmalar normaldır: I'm, can't, don't, it's
- Nida və sual işarələri: Guess what! How was your trip?
- Çox rəsmi ifadələrdən qaçın: ✗ I am writing to inform you..., bu, rəsmi məktub üçündür.
Tipik səhvlər
- Tapşırığın bir bəndini unutmaq, imtahanlarda bal itirmənin əsas səbəbi.
- Azərbaycan dilindəki kimi uzun girişlər yazmaq ("Salam, necəsən, ailən necədir, hamıya salam..."). İngilis dilində qısa giriş kifayətdir.
- Böyük hərf: I həmişə böyük yazılır, həftənin günləri də: Monday, Friday.
