After this lesson you can
- Can write a well-organised opinion paragraph of 120-150 words.
- Can state an opinion clearly in a topic sentence and support it with reasons and examples.
- Can use linking words to add reasons, give examples, show contrast and conclude.
Explanation
Structure
- Topic sentence: state your opinion clearly.
- Reason 1 with an explanation or example.
- Reason 2 with an explanation or example.
- Optional counter-argument and your reply.
- Concluding sentence that restates your opinion in different words.
Useful language
In my opinion, I believe that, Firstly, In addition, Moreover, For example, For instance, However, On the other hand, In conclusion, For these reasons.
Tips
Put your main idea first. Keep one idea per sentence. Avoid informal words like gonna. Don't write according to me. Make every sentence support your topic sentence.

Tipik səhvlər

- Söhbət dili: gonna, wanna, kinda yazıda işlənmir.
- Qısaltmalar (don't, can't) rəsmi yazıda daha az işlənir; do not, cannot daha uyğundur.

Topic sentence
Firstly, swimming is an important safety skill.
