Listening: everyday dialogues
Dinləmə: gündəlik dialoqlar
After this lesson you can
- Can understand the main points of short, clear everyday dialogues (in a café, making plans, on the phone).
- Can catch specific details such as times, prices, numbers and places.
- Can recognise common functional phrases for offering, suggesting, agreeing and refusing.
Explanation
Why listening is hard
In speech, words join together: What do you want? can sound like "Whaddaya want?"; going to → "gonna". Learn to recognise these but don't write them.
Before listening
Read the questions and predict the situation. Decide what you need: a time, a price, a place.
While listening
- Don't try to understand every word. Follow the general situation.
- Be careful with numbers: thirTEEN vs THIRty.
- Listen for changes of mind: Actually..., Oh wait... The final decision is usually the answer.
Useful phrases
- Offers: Would you like...? Can I get you...?
- Suggestions: Why don't we...? How about...?
- Agreeing: Sounds good.
- Refusing: I'm afraid I can't.
- Checking: Did you say fifteen or fifty?
If you miss a word, keep listening.
Azərbaycan dilində ətraflı izah
Dinləmə niyə çətindir?
Yazıda sözlər ayrıdır, danışıqda isə birləşir: What do you want? çox vaxt "Whaddaya want?" kimi səslənir; going to → "gonna", want to → "wanna". Bu, "pis" ingiliscə deyil, təbii danışıqdır. Bu formaları tanımaq lazımdır, amma yazıda istifadə etməyin.
Dinləməzdən əvvəl
- Sualları oxuyun və nə dinləyəcəyinizi təxmin edin: kafe? stansiya? telefon zəngi?
- Açar sözləri müəyyənləşdirin: What time? How much? Where? Siz rəqəm, vaxt və ya yer axtaracaqsınız.
Dinləyərkən
- Hər sözü anlamağa çalışmayın. Ümumi vəziyyəti tutun: kim danışır, harada, niyə?
- Rəqəmlərə diqqət: thirteen (13) və thirty (30) fərqli vurğulanır: thirTEEN / THIRty.
- Fikir dəyişikliyinə diqqət: danışan əvvəlcə bir şey deyib, sonra Actually..., Oh wait..., No, let's... ilə fikrini dəyişə bilər. Testlərdə düzgün cavab adətən son qərardır.
Gündəlik funksional ifadələr
| Funksiya | İfadələr |
|---|---|
| təklif | Would you like...? Shall I...? Can I get you...? |
| plan təklifi | Why don't we...? Let's... How about...? |
| razılıq | Sounds good. Good idea. Sure. Why not? |
| nəzakətli imtina | I'm afraid I can't. Sorry, I'm busy then. Maybe another time. |
| aydınlaşdırma | Sorry, could you repeat that? Did you say fifteen or fifty? |
Tipik çətinlik
Azərbaycanlı dinləyicilər çox vaxt bir tanış olmayan sözdə "ilişib qalır" və sonrakı hissəni eşitmir. Bilmədiyiniz sözü buraxın və dinləməyə davam edin.
Examples
Can I get you anything to drink?
Sizə içmək üçün nəsə gətirim?

Why don't we meet at the metro station?
