Explanation

for and since

Use the Present Perfect for situations that started in the past and continue now.

for + a period: for three years, for a week
since + a starting point: since 2020, since Monday I have worked here for two years / since 2023. Ask: How long have you...?

just, already, yet

just = a very short time ago: I've just arrived.
already = sooner than expected: He's already left.
yet = until now, in negatives and questions, at the end: I haven't finished yet. Have you eaten yet?

just and already go between have/has and the past participle; yet goes at the end.

Bir vəziyyət keçmişdə başlayıb və hələ də davam edirsə, ingilis dilində Present Perfect işlənir. Azərbaycan dilində isə burada indiki zaman deyirik: Mən burada beş ildir yaşayıram. Ona görə tipik səhv: ✗ I live here for five years. Düzgün: ✓ I have lived here for five years.

for + müddət: for two hours, for ten years, for a long time
since + başlanğıc nöqtəsi: since 2019, since Monday, since I was a child

Sual: How long have you known her? – I've known her since school.

just

just = «indicə, təzəcə». have/has ilə V3 arasında durur:

I've just had lunch. – İndicə nahar etmişəm.

already

already = «artıq, çoxdan» – gözləniləndən tez olub:

She has already finished her homework.
Yeri: adətən have/has ilə V3 arasında.

yet

yet = «hələ» (inkarda) və ya «artıq / hələ ki» (sualda). Həmişə cümlənin sonunda durur:

I haven't called him yet. – Ona hələ zəng etməmişəm.
Have you finished yet? – Artıq bitirdin?

Diqqət

Azərbaycan dilində «hələ» həm **yet **, həm də still ola bilər. Present Perfect inkarında yet işlədin: I haven't eaten yet.

Common mistakes

I live here since 2015.
I have lived here since 2015.
Azərbaycan dilində «2015-dən yaşayıram» deyirik, amma ingiliscə since/for ilə davam edən vəziyyət üçün Present Perfect lazımdır.
I have worked here since three years.
I have worked here for three years.
Müddət (three years) üçün for, başlanğıc nöqtəsi üçün since işlənir.
I haven't yet finished.
I haven't finished yet.
yet adətən cümlənin sonunda durur.
I have finished already it.
I have already finished it.
already have/has ilə V3 arasında yerləşir.
She has just went out.
