Explanation
In academic writing, copying a source word for word without quotation marks and a reference is plagiarism. You must express ideas in your own words and cite the source.
Good paraphrasing combines several techniques: synonyms (show → demonstrate), changing word forms (grew rapidly → rapid growth), switching between active and passive, changing sentence structure (because it rained → due to the rain), and reordering ideas. Keep technical terms. Changing only one or two words is not enough, and never change the meaning (some → most, may → will).
A summary presents only the main ideas, usually in 20-30% of the original length. Identify the key point of each paragraph, remove examples and details, connect the ideas logically in your own words, and do not add your opinion. Introduce sources with According to… or The author argues that….

Tələlər
- Yalnız bir-iki sözü sinonimlə əvəz etmək kifayət deyil – bu, hələ də plagiata yaxındır.
- Mənanı dəyişməyin: Some → Most, may → will mənanı dəyişir.
- Sinonimin kontekstə uyğunluğunu yoxlayın: a heavy rain üçün a weighty rain olmaz.
Xülasə (summary)
Xülasə – mətnin əsas fikirlərinin qısa ifadəsidir (adətən orijinalın 20-30%-i):
