Tense system review
Zamanlar sisteminin təkrarı
After this lesson you can
- Can choose between simple, continuous and perfect forms in past, present and future contexts.
- Can explain the difference between finished and unfinished time periods.
- Can use perfect continuous forms to stress duration and recent activity.
- Can avoid typical tense errors in extended speech and writing.
Explanation
Every English verb form combines a tense (past, present, future) with an aspect (simple, continuous, perfect, perfect continuous). Simple forms present facts, habits and completed events. Continuous forms show actions in progress or temporary situations. Perfect forms connect an earlier event to a later point. Perfect continuous forms stress duration up to a point.
Use the Past Simple with finished time expressions (yesterday, in 2019) and the Present Perfect with unfinished time (today, ever, since, for) or when the result matters now. State verbs such as know and believe are rarely continuous. After time conjunctions like when and as soon as, use a present form, not will, for future meaning.
Azərbaycan dilində ətraflı izah
Zaman və aspekt
İngilis dilində hər fel forması iki seçimdən yaranır: zaman (past, present, future) və aspekt (simple, continuous, perfect, perfect continuous). Azərbaycan dilində isə çox vaxt bir forma bir neçə mənanı daşıyır: «işləyirəm» həm I work, həm I am working, bəzən isə I have been working deməkdir. Ona görə də ingiliscə danışarkən konteksti düşünmək lazımdır.
Aspektlərin mənası
- Simple – fakt, vərdiş, tamamlanmış hadisə: She writes reports. He left at six.
- Continuous – müəyyən anda davam edən, müvəqqəti və ya yarımçıq hərəkət: I was cooking when you called.
- Perfect – bir zaman nöqtəsinə qədər baş vermiş və həmin nöqtə ilə əlaqəli hadisə: By 2020 they had moved twice.
- Perfect continuous – bir nöqtəyə qədər davam edən müddət: I have been studying for three hours.
Present Perfect və Past Simple
Ən çox səhv burada olur. Konkret keçmiş vaxt (yesterday, in 2019, last week, two days ago) varsa – **Past Simple **. Vaxt bitməyibsə (today, this year, ever, since, for) və ya nəticə indi vacibdirsə – Present Perfect.
- I lost my keys yesterday. (keçmiş fakt)
- I 've lost my keys. (indi açarım yoxdur)
State verbs
know, believe, own, belong, understand, prefer kimi vəziyyət felləri adətən davamedici formada işlənmir: I have known him for years (yox: I have been knowing).
Gələcək
will – proqnoz və anlıq qərar; going to – plan və əlamətə əsaslanan proqnoz; Present Continuous – razılaşdırılmış plan; Future Perfect – gələcəkdəki nöqtəyə qədər bitəcək hadisə: By June I will have finished the course.
Zaman bağlayıcıları
when, after, as soon as, until, before sözlərindən sonra gələcək mənasında will işlənmir: I'll call you when I arrive.
